Graeme is the founding partner of SRB Legal. He has enjoyed a long and varied career covering many aspects of the law, and during the last 20 years has worked exclusively in insurance law. His notable successes have included High Court cases which have changed the Swan River into the sea (Gibbs v Mercantile Mutual Insurance) as well as the landmark case of Woods v Multi-Sports Holdings.

When on holidays, Graeme enjoys travelling (to many and varied lands, and most recently to South America), and in his spare time he is an afficionado of motor cars and Australian Rules Football.

David qualified as a Barrister in South Africa and was initially involved in many challenging experiences as Defence Counsel in that country in a variety of civil and criminal matters. For the past twenty years David has been a leader in insurance law, with considerable and wide-ranging experience in workers’ compensation and employer’s liability claims. He now specialises in catastrophic claims and Trial work.

A natural advocate, he has the ability to see the “big picture” in all issues whilst employing the discipline to attend to the vast minor detail too.

In his spare time David enjoys surfing and is a keen follower of rugby (both Australia and South Africa). Like several of his other colleagues he is a voracious reader, especially of history and politics.

Alex has played a key role in the management and direction of SRB Legal, especially since 2005, whilst also enjoying a particular expertise in workers’ compensation and public liability matters.

When time permits, Alex has a keen interest in motor vehicles (like Graeme Richards), is an even keener supporter of the Dockers and has a ready and excellent appreciation and memory for the best lines in Monty Python.

Tony is well known in the industry and is one of the most effective, hard-working lawyers in it. He practices in most areas of insurance law with particular emphasis on workers’ compensation and public liability claims.

He enjoys a special ability to turn out a mean opinion faster than almost anyone else.

Tony is a keen “Sharks” fan (East Fremantle Football Club, to the uninitiated) as well as a mad Dockers’ supporter.

Hugh has been practicing law since 1987. He has developed strong practices in both liability and workers’ compensation. He too has enjoyed his share of Court successes including the matter of Quinlan v Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley (workers’ compensation Supreme Court case) and in Schellenberg (in the High Court on the rarefied issue of Res Ipsa Loquiter).

When not engaging in a voracious reading of the law generally Hugh has been known to have a special affection for New York and politics. He has a wealth and depth of knowledge in many areas which can readily convert almost any topic of conversation into his “area of expertise”.

Byron – like a number of his other partners – has enjoyed a wide and varied practice in a variety of areas of law (including family law, conveyancing, commercial matters and criminal law) before turning to specialising in public liability and commercial insurance matters. His practice focuses on a number of significant claims involving complex liability issues and substantial damages.

Byron’s advocacy skills clearly reflect an exceptional facility in being able to listen to others and to engage in meaningful conversation with them (a quality only too rarely found).

When not attending to the pressing needs of insurance law, Byron enjoys surfing and golfing (in which he enjoys a particular aptitude and at which he has been known to score more than his share of holes-in-one) as well as travelling. He also has a special interest in the field of business management.

Trevor has enjoyed a wide experience in the law and for the last 15 years has pursued a special interest in the areas of motor vehicle recovery and contractual disputes (most notably in the higher courts more recently).

Time permitting, Trevor has a special interest in cinema and, in fact, contributes to a highly engaging and informative website column (www.michaeldvd.com.au ). Indeed, his skill and knowledge in his area of legal practice is only matched by his enormous knowledge of cinema.

David commenced legal practice in South Australia in 1995. From that time, he has worked in insurance law, predominately in the fields of Workers' Compensation and Public Liability. Upon moving to Perth in 1999, David has increasingly focused on workers' compensation law. David is also developing an expertise in asbestos exposure claims.

When not attending to the needs of his clients, David travels, trains at the gym and often questions whether it was wise to try to renovate a 'character' property.

Justin has had a relation with SRB Legal over 20 years. Justin commenced his working life as a claims officer at GRE Insurance in 1987. After completing his law degree, he commenced his articles at Srdarov Richards Burton (the forerunner to SRB Legal), in 2000, thereby continuing his association with the firm as an employee, rather than as a client!

Justin's main area of practice is in workers' compensation claims, representing insurers and employers in the Dispute Resolution Directorate, and in the District and Supreme Courts. He prides himself on appreciating the concerns of his clients by endeavouring to resolve claims on pragmatic and commercial basis.

When work and family permit, Justin (like David and Byron) is an avid surfer and kitesurfer, and he can't wait for the next 20 knot seabreeze!
