Pro Bono

SRB Legal are currently engaged to undertake pro bono work on behalf of the RSPCA. Recently, we were successful in a prosecution against a 32 year old man, in relation to the neglect of his 12 year old Boxer cross dog, ‘Sas’. The animal was reported to the RSPCA and was seized due to her poor health. Upon examination, the treating vet found the animal suffered from diabetes which had been left untreated, severe emaciation with muscle wastage, mammary tumours, loss of vision in one eye, cataracts, alopecia and other secondary conditions related to the untreated diabetes. The offender told the RSPCA that he was aware that the animal had diabetes however had not sought veterinary treatment.

Ms Belinda Cizeika of our offices appeared at Armadale Magistrates Court where there was a conviction recorded against the offender, who received a $5,000 fine and a five year prohibition of owning any animal, together with an order as to costs.
